Butch the Builder: a Care Cubby Pop Up
The Artistic Alphabet Mafia/Care Cubby present “Butch The Builder”, a sapphic and community focused craft night and supply drive to benefit the care cubby project. Care cubby is a mutual aid network that distributes free supplies across the city through ABC themed stations or “cubbies” that are set up at different small businesses and non profits.
Currently the system has 4 categories of cubbies, which are
A- Art supplies
B- Books
C- Care or over the counter medical supplies
F- Food

Date September 23rd
Time: 6-9PM
Location: Center on Halsted,3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613
The event will be held at the 3rd floor of the center that is accessible via stairs or elevator.
Activities
This event will feature ABC themed crafts
Letter themed crafts
A-Art
Participants can play drawing games at the A station with markers, crayons, and more!
B- Books
Participants can bring books to swap for the B station with the option to decorate a custom bookmark.
C-Care(over the counter medical supplies)
Participants will be making mask chains at the C station to have some bling to attract all the cute buff butches at the event.
F-Food
Participants will be making food felt charms their next carabiner showoff contest,
Other activities will include
-Shelf decorating courtesy of Dykes with Drills. Shelves decorated will be used as cubbies in the care cubby system.
-Supply drive for KAPOW/Care Cubby. Attendees can bring extra art supplies; books; non perishable food; or sealed over the counter medical supplies such as NARCAN, KN95 masks, first aid kits,
Ticketing
This event is free with an option of sliding scale donations that will go towards supporting care cubby and its partner organizations mission of collective community care.
This ticketing structure would not have been possible without the support of Center on Halstead sponsorship through the BLAZE grant.
Accessibility/Attendance Notes
*This event will be sober focused and no alcohol will be present on site for the event.
*Center on Halsted is a wheelchair accessible venue with an elevator available to access the 3rd floor,
*Multiple HEPA air filters will be on site to reduce disease spread.
*This event will require a mask gathering with KN95 masks available at check in. Masks may be taken off in the outdoor area to eat or drink but must stay on the entirety of the event otherwise.
*An ASL interpreter will be in attendance for community speeches and to provide communication support for those who need it.
*This event is open to all, however attendees under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
*We will have a photography consent system where attendees who wish to not be documented will wear visible wristbands.

The mission of the ToolBank is to serve community-based organizations by providing the tools, equipment, and expertise needed to empower their most ambitious goals. Our vision is to equip all communities with tools for change.

This is a queer-focused event. Allies are welcome, but priority is given to the safety of LGBTQ, BIPOC, and disabled attendees. Hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated, and violators can and will be banned from future events.
