About the Instructor

carrie.jpg

Carrie is an artist and woodworker currently residing in Chicago, IL. She has a passion for wood in functional form, as well as its use in art and loves using reclaimed wood and other materials when making.  After 25 years of refinishing and upcycling furniture as a hobby, Carrie decided to attend Chicago School of Woodworking to learn how to make furniture. This program fueled her passion for creating with wood. She has been making one-off furniture and other functional items for the last 5 years and teaching basic woodworking and furniture making classes, with a focus on using reclaimed materials.  Even in Carrie’s art, wood tends to be the focus. She has been creating pyrography art for the last 8 years and has recently started dabbling in powercarving.
