We partnered with the Dyke March to help build out volunteer teams for Pink Saturday. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. Thank you to the friends, new and old, who stopped by to visit our booth!
We started the month of June with our first ever Dykes with Drills retreat, which was a great success. In addition to constructing a railing and steps for the back deck at Clear Air Mountain Home in Sierra City, we spent quality time eating good food, discussing diversity and inclusion in the trades, and swimming in frigid mountain lakes.
Dykes with Drills went to Chicago!! We hosted our first Introduction to Tools workshop and had an amazing time and are excited to return soon. We want to say a huge thank you to Carrie and the Rebuilding Exchange for hosting us!
Dykes with Drills teamed up with Bay Area Derby and Skate Like a Girl to build out the second installment of an indoor skate park in Oakland, Ca.
This was our biggest volunteer event to date and was tons of fun!
Thanks to everyone who came out, our build leads and our volunteers. At DWD we are all about creating equity in the field of construction. It’s awesome to see so many women, trans and gender non conforming folks, as well as having support from our male allies!

Dykes with Drills hosted 3 work days in Graton, Ca building a deck, installing drawers, and tiling the fireplace of a Tiny house.
Dykes with Drills Introduction to Tools Zipline Workshop was a huge success. We trained our participants on many tools including the chop saw, table saw, band saw, jig saw and drills.
Both groups worked diligently on their zipline swing, and while they didn’t complete the project, they had many other discoveries along the way.
In our workshops it’s not the product the counts, its what you learn on the process to creating it.
Dykes with Drills partnered with the Chico Housing Action team and the Saint Francis Homelessness Challenge to bring two tiny homes to those experiencing homelessness in Chico.
We had more than 11 volunteers participate with us and raised over $2000 for this project. Thank you to everyone who came to support and who donated to make this possible.

We had a wonderful time working this past Sunday at the SF Brightworks school shop! We planed, de-nailed and cut our wood and are ready to attach the pieces of the frame next time. We want to say a huge thank you to the Brightworks community for letting us use the shop!
Dykes with Drills partners with the Ceres Project in Santa Rosa to build a garden roof at the Social Advocates for Youth - SAY Dream Center. What a rockin' day we had, a great crew for a great cause. The worms of the Ceres garden have a sweet roof over their heads and what better way to celebrate Oakland Pride and a big Climate Change action.
A Big THANK YOU to all who came out!
We had an amazing time today at our tool training event in Oakland. Thank you Elisabeth Crosby for hosting us in your home!
Here are some of the highlights from the day.
